Beyond the Ballot: My Hands-On Commitment to Wetumpka
Full circle moment! My sons, Skyler and Christopher, joined me (Chris Sr.) and Mrs. Brooks to grill and serve the dedicated staff at Wetumpka Middle School's Appreciation Luncheon. It was an honor for them to serve the teachers who once served them!
As your candidate for Wetumpka City Council District 1, I believe that effective leadership starts with a deep understanding of, and a hands-on commitment to, our community. My journey in service to Wetumpka isn't just a talking point; it's a testament to the values I hold and the approach I'll bring to the City Council. For years, I've been actively involved in various organizations, working alongside my neighbors to strengthen the very fabric of our hometown.
My involvement with the Lions Club of Wetumpka is about more than just membership; it's about joining a long-standing tradition of community service. I'm eager to learn from its rich history and contribute to its mission of helping those in need, working directly with fellow members to make a tangible difference in the lives of our citizens.
At Redland Hills, my commitment takes two forms. As a drummer for the Praise and Worship team, I get to share my love of music in service, providing live performance that supports the spiritual journey of our congregation. Simultaneously, my work with the Youth Ministry is incredibly rewarding. It's about bringing more young people closer to the Lord, building meaningful relationships within our community, and giving kids positive opportunities that can shape their lives.
For eight years, I've been invested in the success of the Wetumpka High School Band Boosters. This role has allowed me to impact the program in critical ways, working behind the scenes to ensure our students have the best possible experience. From managing concessions and grilling, to food prep and clean-up, I've seen the direct impact of our efforts. As Equipment Manager, I've been responsible for loading and transporting trailers, maintaining and repairing equipment, and ensuring everything is in good working order. Managing the pit crew has given me valuable experience in coordinating volunteers and handling complex logistical needs, all to ensure our kids can perform at their best during games, performances, and competitions.
My dedication extends to the well-being of our youngest citizens through the Child Nutrition programs, where I've volunteered during summer food distribution. Handing out food to parents and students in the pickup line is a direct way to support families and address essential needs within our community.
My company DCCI prioritizes giving back, actively volunteering our time and resources to support the community. We make it a point to answer the call whenever an organization is in need, whether it's through sponsoring essential meetings or training classes, or by actively assisting with the collection and donation of vital resources for children. Our commitment is unwavering: we are continuously seeking new ways to contribute to our community and uplift those who need it most.
These diverse experiences have taught me invaluable lessons about collaboration, resource management, problem-solving, and the power of dedicated community effort. They've shown me the importance of listening, of rolling up my sleeves, and of ensuring that every part of our community receives the support it needs. I believe these hands-on experiences, from ensuring a band instrument is repaired to feeding children and supporting local commerce, directly translate into the practical, empathetic, and accountable leadership Wetumpka needs on its City Council.
I am not just asking for your vote; I am offering a proven commitment to service and a dedication to making Wetumpka a better place for everyone.
